The Soda Bottle Bird Bath did not work as a hanging bird bath for me, until I modified it. The supplied hanging system made it unbalanced. It wobbled, would not hang level, and the water sloshed out--all because the weight was outside the area of support. I had to make 3 equally spaced holes around the outer plastic rim using a heated icepick, then inserted hooks and used three equal lengths of lightweight chain held together at the top with a keyring, and hung the bird bath on an S-hook and then a long hanger.
It's hanging about 4' off the ground, and now the birds love it. I threw out the plastic hanger.
I suggest you redesign the hanging system.

This product isn't working for my environment. We live in the Caribbean and the trade winds are too strong for the light weight. We now use it for our dogs and cats. They love the extra water supply and it works well for that application.
