Get Up Close to Birds with Wearable Feeders

Ever wanted to get up close with birds… and I mean really close? Now you have the chance.

Say hello to the wearable “hummingbird hat.”

Sure, this ingenious bird feeder has been around for a couple of years, but it’s worth revisiting. The inventor, an Etsy user by the name of Roy Road Fish Company, goes around to garage sales and repurposes bike helmets by attaching two hummingbird feeders to it.

It’s a very simple concept, but it allows you to be a couple of inches away from hummingbirds, as long as you stay still. This can be a great way to pass the time in the spring.

Here’s the hat in action:

Believe it or not, this slightly crazy and slightly genius invention isn’t even the first wearable hummingbird feeder. The other version by another inventor is a bit different and more complicated.

This wearable hummingbird feeder is built into a full face shield and features a vinyl tube right between the eyes that feeds hummingbirds.

This feeder pretty much lets you look right into the eyes of a little hummer.

For those a little less adventurous, you can still get close to birds at your feeders with a window feeder.
