This may be sacrilegious to a vast portion of the United States, but I find baseball utterly boring (this man knows what I’m talking about!).
However, a little fun was had at Comerica Park Wednesday when two resolute pigeons nonchalantly wandered around the field between the pitcher’s mound and the batter’s box in the middle of the Pirates-Tigers game.
At first, they tried to play on, despite being visibly distracted by the birds. The player at bat, Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera, tried to scare the pigeons away but they only moved slightly. Then Pittsburg pitcher Vance Worley tried and even rolled a pitch at the pigeons, but they didn’t flinch!
Anyone who has watched birds in their yard, specifically pigeons, knows how obstinate they can be.
Eventually, a group of workers came out and captured the pigeons before releasing them in the Comerica parking lot.
